Merry Christmas (War is Over)
The good thing about writing a blog which spans the years is that you notice certain patterns. When it comes to this time of the year and especially Christmas week I’m always knackered and this year is no exception. This year it’s a combination of the bonhomie of Christmas and my training for the Tokyo marathon stepping up a gear and in the last day of so I’ve developed a stinking cold. This didn’t stop me from dragging myself out for an hour and forty minute run yesterday, and my post run routine has now seen the return of the dreaded cold bath. Man that doesn’t get any easier.
My last ParkRun of the year involved helped my mate James Gent around our last ParkRun of the year. There was a good atmosphere on Saturday and it was pretty much perfect running weather, with a bit of moisture in the air. Normally if I’m doing the ParkRun I zip down on my bike, do the run and zip back after. So it’s nice to walk up and back with Jimbo and appreciate the park.
I am gimlet eyed on Tokyo, with being only 68 days away. The training has begun to tire me out and Christmas is going to be a good opportunity to get some rest. I’m also got a writing plan to work on my novel. The solo exhibition of my paintings I had in London in February of this year was great but I didn’t realise at the time how much it took out of me. I’ve forced myself back to my studio and in the last month I’ve finally produced a painting that I’m happy with.
So, yes 2015, it’s been a goodish year. I could have done without being made redundant in October but there’s even positive points which came out of that. Not least of which is working in my current job at the Welsh National Opera which I love. Looking forward to a rest and being force fed by my Mam! Bring on 2016!
