Brighton Rock (pt1)

For the first time ever my training for a marathon hasn't gone well. When you're training for a marathon over six months or longer there are bound to be highs and lows, but I don't seem to have been able to find my form this time round. As I've previously mentioned here the year didn't get off to a great start with my first major running injury when I pulled a calve muscle on New Year's Day. I recovered but it meant that I had to miss some training runs. Chewing the miles is vital preparation for any long distance race, and I don't know if I've managed to get enough under my belt.

Added to my injury I've had three cold in quick succession, which has meant I haven't been able to get the pace I've wanted and I went out for a few runs I probably shouldn't have. This is has all meant that for the first time I've began to wonder how many more marathon's I've got left in me. I had such good form last year with PBs in both a marathon and a half marathon that I suppose it couldn't last forever, and yet, and yet...

My intention was to try and complete Brighton in 3 hours or under, and while I don't think I've got it in me this time (I'm still going to go for that time) in the last two weeks there has been a hint of improvement. My training runs have been getting faster and today I ran the fastest pace this year, so maybe it's not too late.
